As part of our fundraising activities CBAT is aiming to sponsor a yearly competition of contemporary visual arts in different forms, which provides Bolivian artists with the opportunity to submit and showcase their work and win prizes that could include further educational opportunities and have their work displayed on our website and potentially exhibited at one or more art galleries in Bolivia. This approach will allow identification and promotion of up and coming Bolivian talent.

Our competitions do not require the physical presence of the artist in the UK.

2020 – ‘COVID Lockdown Sentiments'

During 2020 CBAT sponsored a visual arts competition which included art forms of photography, painting techniques and sculptures, among others.  The theme was around the sentiments provoked by the COVID-19 quarantine during 2020.

From the 300 entries we received, 15 made it into the shortlist and out of them, 5 prizes were awarded for capturing the essence of the competition’s theme in their work. We thank all the artists who participated in the competition under frightful, hopeless and sad times; their spirit fueled our interest to support more initiatives for the future.

Below are the final 5 winners.  To view the remaining 10 shortlisted entries along with other entries please visit the COVID Lockdown Sentiments gallery.

Given the importance of making the issue of Climate Change visible through photographic art, a topic that is a priority on the global agenda, CBAT and Noel Kempff Mercado Foundation, in alliance with Manzana 1 Espacio de Arte, launched this photography contest at a national level, which aimed to capture photos that communicate and tell stories, showing both the causes and consequences of this problem and what contributes to climate mitigation.  The contest was opened to all Bolivians or residents of Bolivia over 18 years old.
