 RESIDENCIES AT GASWORKS (LONDON)

SPONSORED BY CBAT

Photography: Ioana Marinescu

CBAT's primary funding programme is for an Art Residency for a Bolivian artist at Gasworks in London. Gasworks is a prestigious contemporary visual art organization that offers rare opportunities for international artists to research and develop new work while they are in London.  Please have a look at the attached document with a 'Gasworks Residency Programme Overview':

The programme is open to artists working in all disciplines subject to some constraints dictated by Gaswork’s buildings and location (their studios are fairly small and not suited to stone carving and welding). Priority is given to emerging and mid-career artists with high-quality work who have not as yet had the opportunity to work in London.

Application and Selection Process:

Artists can only apply via an online 'Open Invitation to Apply' published by Gasworks, advertised in local and national newspapers in Bolivia, through 'Kiosko Galeria', as well as curators, writers, scholars, and other contacts of the Trust. Gasworks sets up a selection committee, which the Trust joins, but Gasworks makes the final selection.

The selection process completion provides enough time for Gasworks and the artist to establish connections, make Visa applications, and begin active development and promotion of the residency. The selected artist will count on private studio facilities and pastoral support during the residence. The accommodation is a shared residency house near Gasworks studios where the artist will have a private bedroom and share the common areas with three other visiting artists.
